Proliant ML150 G5 video performance problem

Hello,

I just got new proliant server and installed windows 2003 st on my sas raid. Everything works fine but video goes very slow - even mouse pointer cannot move smoothly when i open web sites or etc.
I installed newest driver for video card and I lowered my colour value to 16 bit. It helped abit but I am not happy with final result. Why it cant open web sites normally and move pointer smoothly ( not to drawn them like poor remote desktop ) ?

In video properties my card shows full acceleration.

Yes I did install this latest driver for matrox video card. It helped - comparing to what I had before from original HP cd( picture was drawn on my eyes quite slowly ). But I am not happy with full result. Everything goes too slow for such class of a server. I have serveral more HP DL servers in my company and they work fine. This is my first ML server and I am dissapointed. In order to work I had to turn on 16 bit color and mouse precision. Its really annoying!

I sent my problem to HP. I have a 3 NBD carepack. Based on my description they answered that mainboard might be not working properly.

So it seems to be a technical problem not a software problem.

I've encountered the same problem. I believe it is the fault of the graphics adapter/driver. Using Remote Desktop to access the machine from another machone on the LAN is fine - no graphics performance issues at all. But using the physical console was a nightmare.

I turned off hardware acceleration on the video card and it improved drastically. Ironic.

I just got back from vacation. I had FIVE visistors from HP and they switched everything in my server to new. It didnt help. Finally they sent me some links to additional programs and drivers to remove unkown device in my manager and to speed up my server. I will try them today at later time.

Disabling hardware acceleration seems to be a crazy idea but I will surely check it! If it helped for you in same situation it can help me too :)

Here is what my HP specialist sent me:

ISSUE:
A "Yellow Bang (!)" is seen in Device Manager after installing Windows 2003 32-bit Standard Edition and the drivers from the ML110g5.

SOLUTION:
Loading the latest SMART_COMPONENT.ZIP file will resolve the YELLOW BANG (!) issue.

Hello,

I turned off acceleration. Computer changed from slow to the slowest. A disaster. I had little time yesterday. I erased my raid and made 1 and no raid for testing. I used same drivers on my external floppy to install 2003. It didnt see my raid or hdds!
I ll try to use other drivers and install 2003 on weekend. If I fail - I sent this unlucky machine back to HP.

Im unhappy :(

I found a solution for my problem! :)

Chipset drivers are a reason of tragic video performance on my server.

My server works fast nearly without any drivers loaded. It has only SAS and network card driver installed now.

What a suprise! :D

Maybe I got wrong CD. Or someone burned wrong drivers on it. Or the installer is bugged.
I dont know yet.

Hmm, so you uninstalled the video drivers? Just through add/remove programs?

Yes, once I uninstalled it or didnt install at all it was ok.
