Proliant ML350, Dynamic Disc

Hello All,

I recently installed windows 2003 server on my Proliant ML350 G2, and now I want to mirror my disk drive with my OS by software (of course, my server does not support RAID).

However, in order to do this I must convert the drive from basic to dynamic and since this is the drive which has the Compaq EISA based disk, I figured it might damage it.

Am I right, and if so is there any other solution to mirror my drive without buying a RAID controller?

Sanesh,

Thanks for the quick response,

I believe that this server has EISA drive simply because Windows disk management declares that a 39 Mbs partition on my HD is EISA configured

This article looks great, thank you very much. Are you sure converting the disk to dynamic wont affect the ability to load from the compaq EISA partition?

Re: Proliant ML350, Dynamic Disc

I am not sure about the EISA technolgy as i have personally not worked on these kind of HDDs.

However on any other HDD , yes i am sure it would work.

I would advise to take a Valid data back up before you perform any steps.

That small 40 or 50 MB partition listed as "EISA" is created by manufacturers (like Dell and HP) to store system and diagnostic utilities.
