Proliant ML350 G1 restarts 1611 error system fan failure detected

Hello, first post. I have two identical ML350 G1 servers. In the same week the first one had the case fan quit. I swapped in a fan from my other ML 350, but the server would not come up. To get out of my jam. I swapped the raid controller and drives into the spare server and was back in business. Two days later the fan on the backup server started making noise. I ordered two new replacement fans. The spare server is working fine. The original server will not start even with the new fan. I can not get passed the 1611 error. I have read as much as I can. Every suggestion tells me to replace the fan. Which I have now tried 3 different known good ones. Is there a way to disable this feature with a dim switch on the motherboard? If I unplug the fan the 1611 error says fan disconected. So the mother board is seeing the fan. I'd like to save this server. I can not even update the motherboard firmware. Any advice would be appreciated.

I found this post on the internet. Maybe it will help.

Re: Proliant ML350 G1 restarts 1611 error system fan failure detected

Unfortunately the G1 ML350 has only the case fan connected to the motherboard and the fan in the powers supply. I don't have a way to add fans to get past this post error. My guess is the motherboard overheated from the load of the failing case fan. There must be a thermal fuse that is open or failed. Possibly a solder joint. If I could find a way to satisfy the bios I could add auxilary cooling fans to cool the server. Can't seem to find any info other than resetting motheroboard to default. Guess it is time to pitch it. I'll rob the parts that are good and dispose of properly. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and supply a link for some info. We have all proliant servers exclusively and am familiar with the more modern G4 series. Thanks again. mark
