Proliant ML350 G5 Array Diagnostic report error
Ran a Array Diagnostic report and it came back with the following error:
Logical Drive 1 Parity Initialization Failed
The server is up and running ok with no failed drives but there is data in the Array Accelerator
Any idea what the error means?
Thank You

Re: Proliant ML350 G5 Array Diagnostic report error
Hi,
When you create a RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6 logical drive, the Smart Array controller must build the logical drive within the array and initialize the parity before enabling certain advanced performance techniques.
Parity initialization takes several hours to complete. The time it takes depends on the size of the logical drive and the load on the controller. The smart array controller creates the logical drive, initializing the parity whenever the controller is not busy.
As per the error “ Logical Drive 1 Parity Initialization Failed” the parity initialization is failed for Logical Drive 1.
Solution:
Check the smart array E200i controller is running with latest Firmware.
Check the HDD drives installed are running with latest Firmware.
Check Smart array E200i controller driver installed is latest.
Check if there are any read/write errors reported on HDD drives installed. Replace HDD drive that report read/write errors and after rebuild the error should disappear.
Regards,
Renji V
