Proliant ML350 G5 networking dies on large data transfer

The NIC thinks it is still happy, however it cannot send or receive packets. A reboot will refresh the NIC, however the data transfer still breaks. The sending server says it can no longer find the network path. If you give it a day or so, you can start the transfer again. After a fashion, it will die yet again. No patterns, rhyme, or reason. NIC was tested. Drivers updated. Virus and spyware free. Cables changed. No errors on the port. Happens on the C drive as well as the external eSATA and USB hard drives. Transfer of same data to another workstation in the same domain works fine.

Is the server multihomed and you have more than one default gateway ?

It has an integrated dual homed NIC. Only one default gateway. Static IP.

Try a tracert to the destination IP before and after the issue

It's only one hop anyway as it's just down the hall.
