Proliant ML350 Overtemperature
Our server, when the power button is pressed, the fans go to 100% speed and then nothing happens. No display, no post, no beeps.
Red light on the Front, checked in the chasis, overtemperature light is RED (bottom left corner of motherboard).
Entire server was left off in a 65F room for a week, then turned back on and still has same issue.
Tried removing power for 2 days, then re-applying power, same thing.
Tried resetting bios, still same thing.
Disconnected fans, checked wires, all look great, reconnected, still same thing. All fans in working order.
The server is not overtemperature, as the box is 65F inside and out and was left in a 65F room for a week, off, and then powered on from that cold state, so the indicator is lying.
Is there anyway around this? Can I disable the catch and boot into the system and see what the real problem is?
Thank you for your time,
James

Re: Proliant ML350 Overtemperature
Hi,
Can you provide which generation of ML350 server is this.
If overheat temperature led is ON, can you provide with more details on processors, and heatsinks on the server.
How many processors are installed and whether the heatsink is seated properly.
Sometimes the thermal grease between heatsink and processor has the issue with. Cleanup and apply to isolate.
Regards,
Srinivas S

Re: Proliant ML350 Overtemperature
hi,
i would suggest try to clean the heatsink and put thermal paste.
