Proliant ML370 G1 fan speed problem

How do I reduce the fan speed of my first generation ML370?
I have BSD Unix installed, so there are no system agents available from HP. I don't want to use the wire cutter -:)

The supported Operating Systems can be found at:

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/os-support-matrix-310.pdf

I'm not familiar with BSD. Can you use RPMs? Or EFS?
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

No, you can't use RPM or EFS with BSD Unix. There is a sco emulator available, but it does not support kernel modules (=EFS ?)
