Proliant ML370 G2 not seeing CD or DVD hardware

I purchased a Sony DVD writer/reader to replace the original CD drive that came with the system. I unplugged the CD Drive and put the DVD drive in with the same jumper settings. I also put a bootable disc in to make sure it worked. The ML370 G2 did not boot the disc nor when Windows 2000 came up did it see a CD/DVD drive. I removed the DVD drive and put the CD drive back in and it is not recognized now. They both can use the IDE ribbon and they are secured and power gets to the drives, so I am at a loss. Any BIOS settings need to be done to make this work?

Hi,

Did u check for optical drives in Device Manager ?

If there is a Driver issue you might be able to see it in Device Manager.

You can check if standard boot order is set to boot from CD prior to hard drive.

1.Press F9 when prompted during startup.
2.Go to Standard Boot Order (IPL)
3.Check if CD-ROM/DVD-ROM has higher precedence over Hard Drive C: if not set the order to boot from optical drive before Hard Drive.

You may (or may not) find the RBSU User Guide helpful.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Shiraj.
