Proliant ML370 G3 3.06X Excessive Fan Noise

Greetings,

My organization brought up a ML370 (case) today to be used furhter down the road. The problem is, it generates quite a bit of fan noise. We have the hot swap fans that are positioned as follows - 2 going to the processor (single 3.06) and one in the #5 slot for cooling expansion slots.

My question is, can the fan speed be controlled via management software that I am unaware of or bios setting (already poked around in there)? We are running Red Hat 9 on the machine if that is any help. If this is the normal volume of the fans we will be returning the server as it is so loud it disrupts the entire data center. Sitting right next to it is a ML350 that doesn't produce a fraction of the noise as this machine.

Thank you

Hi

cpqhealth health rpm is required to be loaded on the system to reduce the noise on the fan.
hpasm-7.1.1-87.rhel3.i386.rpm is the rpm
