Proliant ML370 G3 and adding an internal Quantum Tape Drive

I am trying install an internal Quantum Tape Drive into a Proliant ML370 G3 server. I have added a Smart Array controller, configured it to be the boot controller, connected the tape drive to embedded SCSI controller and when the server boots up, the Ultra3 SCSI controllers count through the SCSI ID's and then prompt's 'No Boot device found'. I have terminated the tape drive properly, I have set the SCSI jumpers correctly, I have changed cables and I have tried both channels.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Thanks

Re: Proliant ML370 G3 and adding an internal Quantum Tape Drive

Scott,

Just make sure the tape drive is set to something other than SCSI ID0, for example set it to SCSI ID6 (Compaq preferred).

The embedded SCSI controller may be set to boot from ID0 if present, but it finds a tape drive and not a disk drive (INT 13 device) as expected. Since this controller is scanned in the POST before the raid controller, it's just reporting the error.

I hope this helps.
