Proliant ML370 G3 with Adaptec Raid 3200s

I am having problem with the new ML370 server. The last 2 drives on the cage showing bad (LED on the front of the drives only) after Windows 2003 Server loaded and OS and RAID manager still showing it as good drives. If I take out the drives and replace it with the good drives or known good drives from different slot, the same error come up on the drives. I also take out the drives and have blanks in it, then the last 2 drives right below the blank show BAD. It is frustrating and don't really know what cause that problem report bad drives even the drives are good in both OS and RAID Manager. Any help is appreciated.

Try to "re-save" the array configurations back to the controller from the manager once you put the two "suspect" drives back in the cage. then re-boot. Do the LED's clear up?
Enjoy!

I am not sure, I am not to familiar with the 3210 controller and the manager. Have you looked through the Adaptec support site for any insights?

Re: Proliant ML370 G3 with Adaptec Raid 3200s

I do notice something on the Raid Manager software. There is a device called Compaw Proliant 4L6I that have an exclaimation mark on it. Seem like it doesn't have a driver install for it. But search HP/Compaq website for it, nothing turn up. I was thinking it might be the Hot Plug cage for the hard drives, because nothing else plug into the Adaptec Raid 3200s,except the hard drives cage.

Do you have any other suggestion?

The 4L5I is the on-board SCSI channel. It appears because it has a SCSI ID and the O/S will probe for it. No it should not be what is affecting you as you are not connected to it. If you wanted, you can install the driver which may clear the (!):

Re: Proliant ML370 G3 with Adaptec Raid 3200s

I found the problem with the system. Here is what I did to fix it:

In device manager/system devices
Roll back the "Compaq Proliant Storage System Plug and Play" to Microsoft Driver.

Somehow "Compaq Proliant Storage System Plug and Play" driver provided by Compaq is not compatible with the Adaptec Raid 3200S. If using Microsoft driver, everything seem to work correctly.
