Proliant ML530 and DLT 40/80 internal
Is the DLT 40/80 or DLT80i compatible with the Proliant's ML530(1st Generation) internal ultra wide SCSI controller?
I am replacing my old DLT 35/70 internal with a DLT 40/80 internal drive.
Is it better to use the tape drivers provided by Veritas Backup Exec or by Compaq/HP? Do I need to disable the Compaq drivers to be able to use the Veritas drivers?

Based on this page, it's not a tested configuration:
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/proliant/index.html
That doesn't mean it won't work. The internal controller is an Ultra2 (wide) controller, which has plenty of speed for the 6-12MB/sec DLT80.
As far as drivers, use what your backup application document recommends (probably the veritas driver in this case).

The journey IS the reward.

The old Proliant ML530 server has a Dual Channel Integrated Wide Ultra2 SCSI controller.
