Greetings and a happy new year, live long and prosper!
I have a situation in which I need some info guys!
I have a very old HP Server, listed above, in which there is a P800 Array controller.
It has 6 arrays on it and i want to add additional size to one of them.
I have a spare disk that i can use but the problem is that in the acu i cant find
the expand size selection. The ver of the acu is 7.65.9.0 which is old...
Please give me some help on this, if you need any other info i will give it to you!
Than you in advance.

Re: Proliant ML570 G4
Hello,
please tell us more about the 6 arrays.
Do you have one array with 6 logical volumes? Please post a screenshot from your arrays.
If so you have to extend the array with the spare drive first. Then you can expand the desired logical volume. If the logical volume is the last one (number 6) then it is an easy process for the P800. If it is a volume before 6 then it is a very time consumption work. All the volumes after the desired will be move to the free space to free up the space after the desired volume. After that the volume will be expanded.
Volume 1 Blocks 1 - 2000, Volume 2 Blocks 2001 - 3000, Volume 3 Blocks 3001 - 5001, Volume 4 Blocks 5002 - 6000 and so on. To expand one of the volumes 1 - 3, there must be free blocks to expand the volume. Say you need 500 Blocks for your designed free space for Volume 2. Volume 3 and 4 have to move 500 Blocks upwards to get these Blocks free after Volume 2.

Re: Proliant ML570 G4
Consider to update controller firmware and SSA (the new ACU) versions first.
What OS is running?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Proliant ML570 G4
Win 2003 is the OS! I will not do any update, i will not take that risk... Except if it will be a necessity for making the expand it is needed! Thank you!

Well, you have many RAID0, so taking risk is likely not your problem ...
However, could you post the "more information" and the physical view too?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Proliant ML570 G4
Well as you allready know, the raid0 was selected for the speed... It is well known that when you have speed you dont have security, but that is what i have here...
In the new Server there will be no raid0 for sure...
So here is the more info, i think that the physical view from the more info is what you need?
If not, please tell me how to make it appear so i can snap a picture from it and upload it here!
Thank you for your help!

Re: Proliant ML570 G4
Upgrading the controller firmware from 2.08 should not be a problem at all:
https://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_beb48c5774f34e79adaf8884ee
The physical view of the RAIDs would be nice, go to the screen you posted first, and select physical in the middle of the screen, top of middle column - "show physical view".
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Proliant ML570 G4
Array F is a SATA drive, you cannot extend it with a SAS drive.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
