Proliant NIC and flow control

Would flow control affect speed on an gigabit ethernet network? Right now, all of my servers are set to auto for flow control - I am assuming that the server would pick this up from the switch. Am I assuming correctly?

Re: Proliant NIC and flow control

The Auto Speed will be set by various components: Cable type, cable lenght switch settings and switch capability.
The recommended flow control speed is always Auto. Even CISCO recommend to put their switch to auto.

If you are not getting any positive results, you may check other factors like OS and Service Pack installed.
Win2003 SP 2 per example have several network issues and it doesn't depends on the Hardware configuration.
