Proliant SE316m1 where I can find Firmware and decrease the fans noise?
Hi All,
I have recently bought a Proliant SE316m1 but I cant find any help, drivers about this model.
The bigges issue I have got is the fans speed. Al I can do is to get to 50% speed but this is still to much.
I have seen many HP servers and they are much quiter than mine.
I managed to get SPP-2014.02.iso
and my BIOS is now R02 dated 07/02/2013
Power Management firmware is v2.9
Fans still 50% can you advise please?

Re: Proliant SE316m1 where I can find Firmware and decrease the fans noise?
Hi,
I guess SE316m1 is equal to ProLiant DL160 G6 server.
Check if any fan is missing or failed.
Check for proper air ventilation within the server.
Thank You!
I am a HP employee.

I am still runing some of those devices and are having the same problem. I checked but did not find any details on this on the linked page.

Does this meanm, that it is principally possible to get the fan speeds lower than 50% with this model? I would already be happy to learn if someone ever succeeded in achieving that.

Re: Proliant SE316m1 where I can find Firmware and decrease the fans noise?
Most likely you are using incompatible hard drives
I had the same problem when i used HGST drives
But WD drives worked fine. Temperature sensors misunderstand the temperature of the HDD and therefore the fans spin at maximum speed.
