Proliant SL4540 Issues

We recently purchased a SL4540 3-Node Chassis. We have had significant issues. When I search on the forums the keyword SL4540 doesnt even come up on searches (unless I did the search wrong). Has anyone on the forums deployed one yet ? If so what have been your experiences with this product ?

Also we purchased this in Septemeber of this year. It has an iLO 3 interface. In looking at internet posts the SL4540 has had iLO interfacs since possibly late last year. Anyone know why something we purchased in September would have an iLO 3 ? And is it possible to do a hardware upgrade to an iLO 4 ?

The specs of the platform are pretty amazing , the ratio of compute power to thermal output is ultra low. So on paper this thing looked amazing, But we have had excessive drive failures, DIMM failures, motherboard swap, personallity board swap, iLO cables swapped... etc.

Any insight would be helpful, if others have not had these issues it could jut be bad luck on our part but if others have had issues then it would help us to make better future decisions with this platform. Fellow HP forum 3lite... open up on your experiences ! :-)

Re: Proliant SL4540 Issues

I forgot to mention a couple things... the server seldom throws any errors. We use RIBCL to do an embedded health check and pull logs. It passes health checks and throws no failed or degraded events in the log but when you log into the GUI you will see an exclamation point and a compaint of a failed part. There also seems to be some type of sleep effect. There will be no entries in the iLO or IML logs for a long time if it is not used... then when you log in it seems to then find errors and post into the logs.
