Proliant & UPS - communications failure
I am trying to connect a R3000XR to a ML370 server via a serial cable. The Compaq Power Management software is not able to communicate to the UPS. The COM port is working fine.
Compaq Power Management Home Page says Error : Could not read data.
If we use Windows Power Management, the server is initiating a shutdown immediately - loop

Re: Proliant & UPS - communications failure
I would suggest attaching the UPS to another server/pc and install the Compaq Power Agents onto that one to make sure that the serial port on the UPS is not faulty.
There is also a known issue with this make of UPS with a bad serial port.
Also note that there is a new power management software suite out there, replacing ALL previous ones. You can freely download it at:

A Proliant a day keeps the competition away!
