On re-boot, the on post it "hangs" when it tries to load the two NICs, and can either carry on into the OS and then causes problems....

update firmwares drivers all round , check for isa firewall on network or symantec end point disable tefer2 driver in dev manager
disable any firewall running
what happens now..

There are 27 all doing the same internal task, connected to a domain .. so no firewall etc is needed on them.... some have failed before and I have just changed the system board.

but having many dead nics is not common,
i would check the ups if there is one is and ensure it is functioning corecty.
you have a host of nics here which are specific for your server with order numbers too
