Re: Proliant processor upgrade

Hello David,
Yes you do need the Upgrad Kit since it contains some thermal components as well. May I ask which type or model or server you'r planning to upgrade so that I can provide you with the proper Option part no.

Re: Proliant processor upgrade

i have a PL3000 gen. II system board upgrading to a PIII 550cpu.

when i looked at compaq kit, it only had the following items:

cpu
heatsink
vrm

it looks like all standard stuff besides the vrm?
Thanks again everyone.

Re: Proliant processor upgrade

Hi David;

The vrm (voltage regulator module) is the key.

If you add a second processor without a corresponding vrm, the server will not initialize the second processor.

A single processor machine with a missing vrm will not boot.
