I would like to clarify something. We got a Proliant DL380 g4 which runs RHEL 64bits with a processor Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.40GHz

So it looks according to address sizes : 36 bits physical, 48 bits virtual that the proc is 32 bits. How come to we run 64 bits system on a 32 bits proc?

SolutionThey are not truly 64-bit processors. They use Intel EM64T extensions (now called Intel 64 Architecture). More info here:
