Prolient 6500 loading plug and play devices?

Hey all,
My friend just gave me this prolient and I downloaded the smart start cd but it keeps hanging on the decting plug and play boards? How long does it usually take?

What is the model of the server?
What is the version of SmartStart CD?

it's a prolient 6500 and I think the version is 5.5 but that isn't the issue anymore I think I have a bad controller card. I can't get the ide cdrom to appear either....any help would be apreciated
