Prolient DL380 Gen9 Health Light Amber Health Degrading

Hello,

Our server crashed over the weekend and I only found some Raid Array errors in event viewer. I checked the iLO and HP System manager and I am seeing BIOS/Hardware Health Degraded warnings. In the Integrated management logs I am seeing Drive Array ID 92 error: Drive Array Controller Failure (slot 0).

Anyone know what the best next steps are? After looking around I am seeing updating the controller firmware but I wanted to check here first!

Also if I do need to update the controller firmware, does that wipe the raid config away?

No. Updating firmware does not wipe your configuration. The configuration is stored on the disks and Smart Array controllers read that information every time when they start up.

But I fear your controller error means that you might need a replacement controller. Even with an old firmware there should not be such an error.

And I strongly recommend to backup your data! There is a controller inside your server that might have a hardware problem. Until it is fixed, this is a potentially dangerous situation for your data. RAID is not a guarantee that nothing can happen to your data.

Hello,

In this situation,

I do not suggest to update the server with the latest bios and any firmware.

Bios and firmware should be update, only server is in healthy state .

I would suggest to reset SA controller,

you have to  log a proper case with HPE, and share the appropriate logs for further analysis ,if the issue doesn't resolve
