Q: re: compatibility, DL380 G5 and P212 or P411 Smart Array controllers with MSL 2024 library

I need to buy a new tape library and can get a decent deal on a new MSL 2024 with dual LTO5 dirives in it  (SAS connection option)

My old library is connected to my Proliant DL380 G5 server via U320 SCSI and the server has a U320e host bus adapter card in it for that (PCIe 8x card, which would be removed for the new P212 or P411 card)

The HBAs supported by the new MSL2024 library seem to be limited to the P212 and P411 and higher SAS Smart Array cards, but I can't seem to find anywhere on HP's website is those cards are 100% for certain supported in the DL380 G5 server. All the compatibility info I can seem to find for any of the current SAS cards stops ate the G6 servers and it looks like HP has simply erased the history of compatibility matrixes for SAS cards in all servers older than G6 level.

So.... is the P212 or P411 SAS host bus adapter cards known positively to work in the DL380 G5 server or known to *not work* in this server?

Did you get to the bottom of this? Does the P212 work with a DL380G5? I am in EXACTLY the same situation, (trying to get an MSL2024 library working with a G5) , but I purchased the P822 which is not supported by the G5 so I'm scratching around trying to find a SAS controller compatible to both the MSL and the G5s...

The recommended SAS HBA for connecting tape drives and autoloaders to a DL380 G5 is a HP SC44Ge HBA (416096-B21)

Thanks

Mark...
