Question: HP Proliant DL145 G3 and Ubuntu

Hi,

I have an HP Proliant DL 145 G3 with a LSI Logic MPT Bios v6.10.05.00. When I try to install the Ubuntu 7.10 AMD server edition, the system boots from the CDROM, but then I get the following error:

No CDROM detected

and I can't proceed with the installation.

Does anybody knows how I can solve this problem?

The same problem occurs if I try to install the 32 bit version of Ubuntu server.

It is possible that I I install the Smart Array E200i, then I can install Ubuntu?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Question: HP Proliant DL145 G3 and Ubuntu

The CDROM isn't conencted to the LSI controller, and it wouldn't be connected to to an E200i either.

I've ran Linux on the DL145 without issues, but I haven't tried loading Debian or Ubuntu

Hi,

I have tried to install Debian 4.0 and all works fine. I think there is some problem with Ubuntu.

Ubuntu at times gives hard time installing. Also, I have seen, its eats up a lot of resources. I have switched over to fedora & am happy !

;) Regards.

Re: Question: HP Proliant DL145 G3 and Ubuntu

Ubuntu is not a supported OS for the DL145 G3 server.

Even otherwise, you can check Hardware support for HP servers here:
