Question about replacement HD'sfor a HP Proliant DL100 G2 server

One of the drives on our Proliant DL100 G2 server (2TB version) is showing a red light on the front of it and looking at the software its showing up as a dead drive.

 

What I need to know is can I replace the dead drive with any 500GB SATA drive or do I have to use a specific make & model?

I think any SATA will work, however the firmware update tool will not work, and it may not run with the SMART technology!
Is the drive out of warranty?

Unfortunately the drive is well out of warrenty.

 

Will just get another 500GB drive. Even if it won;t work I can make use of it else where.
