Question on windows 2008 Ent Edition and DL980 CPU cores

I'm looking for is the exact technical limits of running Windows 2008 Enterprise Edition on an HP DL 980 G7. I have a Windows based application that can take advantage of running on a server with many cores... I'm getting conflicting reports on whether Windows will run properly with more than 16 cores. Thx in advance.

Re: Question on windows 2008 Ent Edition and DL980 CPU cores

Hi.

windows 2008 x64 enterprise edition SP2 takes 8 sockets and 64 logical CPUs (Cores and Hyperthreading)

windows 2008 R2 x64 enterprise takes 8 sockets and 256 logical CPUs (Cores and Hyperthreading)

Check this dokumentation aout for tips on how to use your dl980 G7 with windows 2008 and 2008 R2
