Quick question: obtaining motherboard info?
DL380p Gen8 running an HP ESXi 5.5.0 U1 image.
How can I obtain the model of its motherboard?
I've tried Googling ESXi shell commands, and the 'smbiosDump' one does pull some info, but I just need to know the exact model of the motherboard. Do I need to get on iLO for this kind of thing?
Looking for an as-to-the-point answer as possible here.
Many thanks.

Re: Quick question: obtaining motherboard info?
What do you expect to get?
It is a DL380p Gen8 board.
But there are 2 versions of the board - with caged or screw-down heatsink. To investigate this, paste the serial number into partsurfer.hp.com
For newer CPUs you need the newer screw-down heatsink board.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Quick question: obtaining motherboard info?
Well I guess I did ask for a quick and dirty answer...
So are you imolying any DL380p Gen8 board is going to have the same number of DIMM slots, the same DIMM configuration, the same memory frequency requirement, the same supported memory capacity per DIMM, etc etc?
I'm not asking rhetorically by the way; I need to know this for my own sanity. Google has failed me thus far.

Re: Quick question: obtaining motherboard info?
If something changes, it will be a new product normally.
Example: ML310e Gen8 with a new chipset is the ML310e Gen8 v2.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Quick question: obtaining motherboard info?
Looks like we have the screw-down heatsink.
Well the reason I ask all this is because we're looking to upgrade our servers' RAM so I wanted to find out the specific model of boards we've got to avoid any complications.
I guess I just need to find out what RAM we're using and get the correct number of DIMMS of that.
