RAID 5 - use 1 HDD for Hot Spare

Hello,

i have a proliant ML350 Gen8 Server with 6 HDDs in a RAID 5. 

My goal is, to degrade to 5 HDDs with 1 Hot Spare Drive.

Is there a possibility to shrink the RAID in 5 HDDs? 

Or do I need a backup and create a new logical RAID Drive with 5 HDDs?

Hi,

No, you need to reconfigure raid.

Keep complete data backup then delete and recreate Raid with 5 drives, with one spare.
