RAID Migration

We have Proliant ML350 with 3x36GB and 3x146B, each 3 HD are seprate logical drive.
We are running out of space and planning to replace the 3x36GB with 3x146GB.
I have 2 questions here:
1- If i replace 1x36GB HD with 146GB hard drive, one at a time and wait until the RAID rebuild on that new HD, and then do the same on the 2nd HD and then same on 3rd HD will this work or not?
2- If step 1 works will i be able to add the new space to the 2nd logical drive (the existing 3x146GB RAID)?
Thx for your help in advance.

Re: RAID Migration

Hi there.

I have exactly the same problem.
Someone in my company told me it will be OK.
But it could be very long (a week)

Re: RAID Migration

hi,

1) yes, just remember to use partition magic (or similar) to format the new unallocated space.
2) what? you have 2 logical drives, why you wanna combine them? besides HW and SW RAID simultaneously is not recommended.
