RAID error

My DL380G3 server HDD got failed. But now the HDD ID changed. When I tried to replace the HDD, it is not rebuilding , because failed HDD is showing SCSI ID 6. There is no SCSI ID 6 slot in the server. What I can do in this case?

Re: RAID error

Only solution I know, is to delete the RAID and reinstall :(

You could try, upgrade the Smart Array FW. I doubt it will work.
You should upgrade anyway.

Once the disk has got assigned a bogus ID, and have failed, it is trapped, forever waiting for a new disk on ID 6. And you can't get that ID.

Only workaround is to assign the new disk, that you have put in, as hot spare.
The RAID will still be waiting for a new disk on ID 6. And will appear as degraded.

Re: RAID error

But we have already one hot spare and once the HDD failed , the hot spare is taken ...
Can I add one more hot spare.???
