RAID5 Array Disk Failure Interim recovery mode. Corrupted folder
We are just having panic mode here.
Our Raid 5 array has a failing disk reported visually (blinking led) and from the diagnostic utility. Report says interim recovery mode with reduced performance.
We realize we need to change the drive but we don't have it now. Our problem right now is that some folders, at least one, is reported corrupted or unreadable by Windows Server.
Why is that happening? Shouldn't the information be there anyway? RAID5 is supposed to help in these cases, isn't it?
Well, any help is much appreciated, specially on how to recover those corrupted folders.
Thank you.
Ramon.

Re: RAID5 Array Disk Failure Interim recovery mode. Corrupted folder
at first RAID 5 is designed that one disk could fail and still the ARRAY id available.
The OS will not know that the disk is failed,
because the OS see only logical volume encapsulated physical disks from ARRAY.
Maybe your OS Windows is corrupted, and there is not a relation to your failed disk.
please check the ADU, and if its possible send it as attachment to the forum.

Re: RAID5 Array Disk Failure Interim recovery mode. Corrupted folder
of course : Physical Drive 1I:1:1 is failed,
i would recommed to immediatelly replace the drive, because if another fail you array will be destroyed.

Re: RAID5 Array Disk Failure Interim recovery mode. Corrupted folder
My question still is about the corrupted folder. Is it normal?
I'm pretty sure the OS is not corrupted
Can I do a chkdisk?
Will the folder be fixed when I change the disk?
Regards.

yes you can

i think not, because if the system have corrupted File system, that is on the logical level not on HW.
if you have a backup you could restore the folder
