RAID5 and non RAID drive

Hello,

We have DL360 with configured RAID5 (3HDD). I added 4th HDD that should work as regular drive (RAID5 must be as it was before). 4th HDD do not appear on device list. How can I make this 4th drive work?

Thank You!

Re: RAID5 and non RAID drive

The controller can only present RAIDs. Consider to create a RAID 0 on that drive.

Hope this helps!

Re: RAID5 and non RAID drive

So it is possible to create two partitions on single drive and make RAID0 on these partitions? I can do this using CD that comes with the hardware?

Re: RAID5 and non RAID drive

I don't know what RAID controller you have, because I don't know the generation of your server. In general you create a RAID on disks (0, 1, 5, 6 or whatever), then you create logical drives on these RAID sets.

In your case you can create a RAID 0 on that single disk, then 1 or more logical drives (also RAID 0).

Hope this helps!

Re: RAID5 and non RAID drive

If you want and if it makes sense for your configuration, you can even add this new disk to the existing RAID 5.

Hope this helps!

Re: RAID5 and non RAID drive

Jonas

You can create a RAID 0, on one drive only. You do not need 2 logical drives on the physical drive.

Just create a RAID 0, on the new drive.
