Dear Guys,
I'm going to add a second Intel E5520 Quad Xeon CPU to my DL380 G6 Server and increase it's RAM memory from 8GB DDR3 1333mhz unbuffered ECC to 16gb DDR3 1333mhz registered ECC. Should I buy 6 RAM modules or 4 modules of 4gb are OK? My seller told me that this Server needs x3 DIMM slot ocupation when using DUAL CPU but I have some doubts. It that correct?
Thanks in advance.

Re: RAM modules for dual cpu DL 380 G6 Server
Does it matter what brand you purchase? does buying non HP OEM brand RAM void the warranty on the server?

Re: RAM modules for dual cpu DL 380 G6 Server
I need to Upgrade my DL380 G6 Server from 6GB to 12GB (also Upgrade to dual CPU)
The "old" 3x 2GB are Micron MT18JSF25672PDZ RAM PN: 500202-061 (Spare Part# 501533-01)
But the new one are 3x 2GB Samsung M393B5673GB0 RAM PN: 500202-061 (Spare Part# 501533-01)
Are they compatible without problems?!?!

Re: RAM modules for dual cpu DL 380 G6 Server
Hi,
The correct Spare part number is - 501533-001.
It will work. The make does not matter as long the memory module is genuine HP part it is the HP Spare part number that matters.
Thanks & regards,
Lincy

Re: RAM modules for dual cpu DL 380 G6 Server
Hi,
To ensure memory compatibility, the memory modules must have the same spare part number.
You can refer to - HP ProLiant Servers - Memory Assembly to Spare Part Number Cross Reference
Thanks & regards,
Lincy
