RESOLVE MULTIPATHING

Hi all ,

i have installed a DL380 HP server G5 , WITH a
AE311A (HP HBA Storageworks fiber channel controller)
the OS used is windows 2003 server SP2 ,
i have installed the driver version 9.1.3.16 with SanSurfer 5.0.0 b4 as recommended ,
i have connected the HBA to a SUN Storedge 6920,
one LUN is created on the Storedge , and from the Diskmanagement page of the windows server i can see the LUN 16 times (Multipathing)
how can i force the server to see the LUN from only one path ,
could it be done from the SANSURFER (even this cersion of SanSrfer do not support LUN Masking)
is LUN MASKING equvalent of Multipathing ?
or i should have a MPIO application to solve this problem ?
thank you

Re: RESOLVE MULTIPATHING

Bonjour Rue Baudin :-)

in order to solve the multiple instances of a LUN seen by the host, add MPIO.

MPIO has a I/O filter driver that will recognize there is more then one path to the same LUN and prevent multiple presentations to the Windows OS.

LUN masking is mostly done at the array level to allow host X to see LUN Y i.e.
It is also better manageable and more secure when done at the disk array level.
