RHEL bootloader edited by HP HBA

Hp Storage Works Autoloader 1/8 is connected to DL 380 G5 server, Dual processor having OS RHEL 4 with HP PSP 9. The default entry grub.conf is modified by HBA driver to single processor mode. Is it possible if we can edit the entry ( 4th line) to
'ELsmp" so that server will boot in SMP kernal?
The current Grub.conf is as below.

# This entry (no. 4) added by Proliant HBA install script
# in package mptlinux-
title HP-2.6.9-55.EL-0
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-55.EL ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /boot/HP-initrd-2.6.9-55.EL.img-0

Are you sure you were running an SMP kernel when you installed the driver? The driver install should create a new initrd image for the driver your installing, but it bases it's selection on the running kernel.

At least this is how the cciss driver update works. I update it more than any of the HBA drivers.
