RHEL5.4 on the proliant DL385 G7 server

i'm installing the RHEL5.4 on the proliant DL385 G7 server,but it seems doesn't work!

The CD-ROM is ok,the OS disk is ok,the server's condition is ok,but when i insert the disk,the Redhat log appeares on the screen,when i press ENTER,after a delicacy time,it stops! Displays "CPU1 stacks ........"
So has anyone ever came across this tricky problem?
how to solve?

Re: RHEL5.4 on the proliant DL385 G7 server

Hi,

It appears this server requires a minimum kernel version of 2.6.18-164.9.1 apparently this is available as an errata. I've never been an RHN subscriber so I don't know if they provide installation media that comes with the updated kernel. I would suggest you try 5.5 first. That should tell you if this is related to the minimum kernel supported or if it's hardware related.

See here

If 5.5 does the same thing I suggest you try a minimal HW config, 1 cpu 1 memory module and retry the installation, if it fails again swap the CPU (if you have a second one) and the memory module.

Good luck!
