RHL 8.0 installation prob on ML350G3
I tried to install RHL 8 after setting the following:
Processor: intel xeon 2.4ghz(1 unit)
hyper threading: enabled
OS type : linux
Configured the smart array controller(raid 5 with three hdds) as my boot controller.
RH CD 1 starts booting but fails to identify the boot device. I have tried to add device. This does not display smart array 642 driver. So I downloaded the driver disk img from hp and tried to load it using F2 in this screen. The system accesses the disk for a second or so... then displays the device list again. It does not use the driver in the disk. Please help me in resolving this issue.
thanks in advance

Please provide the link to the disk image you downloaded. Also provide the steps you used to create the floppy.

Re: RHL 8.0 installation prob on ML350G3
The driver disk image is downloaded from
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/19866.html
The file downloaded was cpq_cciss-2.4.46-rh8.0.dd.gz
Then I exploded the file with gzip -d
and dumped the image to floppy using cmd
dd if=cpq_cciss-2.4.46-rh8.0.dd of=/dev/fd0

Re: RHL 8.0 installation prob on ML350G3
I am sorry. I've goofed up on two things.
I've used gzip -d instead of gunzip.
I failed to read the page fully. It is clearly mentioned to use boot time commnad as 'linux updates dd'. I was trying to add device.
With these two corrections, my RAID volume is recognized and installation started.
thanks for the timely response.
