ROM flash on DL360 G6 questions.

Hi,

I'll need to proceed with a ROM flash on a DL370 G6. It looks very straight forward but i have a few questions.

Are there risks of data loss during the operation ? ROM flash shouldn't affect the RAID controller, am I wrong ?

Basically, i can expect a downtime where ROM should be reverted back to the old one, but having to reinstall from scratch and recover a backup for a ROM flash sounds like an unlikely scenario.

Just looking for inputs and experiences from techies who did this kind of operation !

You should always do a full backup before doing ROM, drivers, or firmware upgrades. You could damage the server board and have issues. Backup before doing anything.

Hi,

Updating System BIOS should not cause any dataloss.

A dedicated smart array controller is controlling hard drives and we are not updating smart array firmware.

Just make sure power to the server is NOT lost during BIOS update.
