RP5430 with 8GB RAM and planning to add addition RAM

Dear Experts!

We are currently planning the upgrade of our RP5430 server in terms of Memory resources.

We currently have 8GB of memory already installed. This is supposed to be the maximum for this model of server.

Below the output of our cstm report:
-- Information Tool Log for MEMORY on path 192 --

Log creation time: Tue Jan 23 11:37:37 2007

Hardware path: 192

Basic Memory Description

Module Type: MEMORY
Total Configured Memory : 8192 MB

Memory interleaving is supported on this machine and is ON.

My questions is:
What options do i have as to upgrading my memory to 16GB?

NB. I have already been through all the posts related to memory modules on RP54xx servers as below:

Re: RP5430 with 8GB RAM and planning to add addition RAM

Yogeeraj,

You're right in that 8GB is the maximum memory adressable ina rp5430 - the system would take another memory extender, but if you add any more memory to a rp5430 than 8GB it won't boot.

What you will have to do here is upgrade the system from a rp5430 to a rp5470. This will increase the max number of CPUs to 4, the max memory to 16GB and available IO slots from 6 to 10.

For the upgrade you would need the following components:

A6147B #015 - that's the upgrade kit itself

If you currently only have 1 power supply you will need another of those:

A5527A - Reduntant Hotswap Power Supply

Then you will need a new memory carrier:

A6155A - rp5470, rp5405, & rp5430 Memory Carrier Board

And then you can add memory (up to 4 of these modules each of which is made up of 2 SIMMs):

A5797A - 512 MB high-density SyncDRAM memory module
A5798A - 1024 MB high-density SyncDRAM memory module
A6115A - 2048 MB high-density SyncDRAM memory module

You will probably need to look at 2nd user for most of this stuff - I don't think HP still sell most of it.
