Raid 1+0 with drive that doesn't exist anymore

=> pd all show

Smart Array 5i in Slot 0

array A (Failed)

physicaldrive 1:0 (port 1:id 0 , Parallel SCSI, 36.4 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1:3 (port 1:id 3 , Parallel SCSI, 0 MB, Failed)

unassigned

physicaldrive 1:1 (port 1:id 1 , Parallel SCSI, 36.4 GB, OK)

-------------

Anyone know how I remove 1:3 and add 1:1 to the Array? The drive must of come from a server with more then two drive bays.

It's in a DL360G3 now, so there are only two drives available and I'd rather not rebuild the machine if I can avoid it.

Re: Raid 1+0 with drive that doesn't exist anymore

There's no SCSI ID 3 on a DL360, only SCSI ID 0 and 1.
The secon drive is not really failed, what really happened is that the information on the RIS got modified (one bit and 1 changes to 3), so the RAID now appears as formed by SCSI ID 0 and 3 (which cannot exist on this server),
When you replaced the disk, it was detected as SCSI ID 1 correctly, but the controller is thinking that the RAID needs SCSI ID 3 to rebuild.

This case has been exposed on these forums previously and the only solution is to rebuild the array.
