Raid 5 Configuration

Hello All,

I have a question regaring the Raid 5 configuration on the HP DL 380 G3 / G4 Models.

In the event of building the system with Windows 2003 server standard edition.
Where do I configure the raid configuration?
Can I do it before installing the OS, is there such a setting in the bios configuration

- or is it only available after installing the operating system and then installing ACU?
I have no knowledge of this, any help is apperciated.
Thank you,

Re: Raid 5 Configuration

Hi,

ProLiant DL380 G3 has Smart Array 5i Plus Controller (integrated on system board).

ProLiant DL380 G4 has Smart Array 6i Controller (integrated on system board).

First RAID 5 has to be configured before installing OS.

To configure RAID, you need to boot from HP SmartStart CD, choose Maintenance and then Array Configuration.

Download HP SmartStart CD 8.25 here.

Download HP SmartStart CD 8.50 here.

HP Download page shows SmartStart 8.25 for DL380 G3 and 8.50 for G4.

Once you download the Zip file, extract and make a cd out of the iso image.

Boot the CD and follow the GUI to configure RAID and you may also perform Diagnostics using this CD.

Thank You!

Re: Raid 5 Configuration

You don't need the SmartStart. Just hit "F8" on POST when the "SmartArray" initialization happens.
