Raid Sets

I currently have a MSA1000, running RAID ADG. Is it possible to change the raid configuration on the fly.

Re: Raid Sets

It should work as long as there is enough free capacity in the disk array if you go to a RAID level with higher redundancy (RAID0+1).

Note the changing on the fly is not supported with all operating systems.

Re: Raid Sets

thanks for that.

We have a 4-node NetWare6 cluster, running on a MSA1000 with 3 shelves. We were advised to use ADG, however as more users are moved onto the new cluster our performance has dropped raising some concerns, we have now been advised to reconfigure the array to RAID0+1. Would this be a destructive change.

Re: Raid Sets

Ed,
it will take quite some time - specially if the MSA has to do its daily duties, too. Make sure you have a complete backup before you start - just in case something goes wrong.
