Raid disk insert error

I am in a position that requires me to know more than do. I am having a problem with a network storage device. A week or so ago we had a harddrive fail on our storage device. I just recently received the replacement harddrive. I have inserted the new harddrive into the failed harddrives space. The harddrive light up green, which lead me to believe that harddrive had been accepted. After a few minutes I was notified via email with a system notification that produced the following information.
Wed Aug 20 13:03:53 MDT [raid.disk.inserted:error]: Disk 3.17 (S/N 3CD222S00000212544RD) has been inserted into the system
Wed Aug 20 13:03:53 MDT [dyn_dev_qual_admin:error]: Disk 3.17 ("SEAGATE ", "ST336704FC ", "FA55") could not be qualified
Wed Aug 20 13:03:53 MDT [dyn_dev_qual_admin:error]: Device qualification failure detected.
Wed Aug 20 13:03:53 MDT [dyn_dev_qual_admin:info]: Firmware is up-to-date on all disk drives
Wed Aug 20 13:03:53 MDT [raid.assim.disk.nolabels:warning]: Disk 3.17 (S/N 3CD222S00000212544RD) has uninitialized labels and is being treated as a hot spare.
Wed Aug 20 13:03:55 MDT [asup.smtp.sent:notice]: System Notification mail sent.
Right now it is my pleasure to correct this error. Any help would be appreciated.
