Raid managment in DL320e Gen8 v2

Hello,

I have an HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 Server running in a client network with 2 hard disks implementing RAID 1 and running Cent OS 6.6 (equivalent to Red Hat 6.6)

My question is, do I have the possibility to check the raid status from the command line ? for example to implement sripts to check it periodically and inform of any error ?

I study the HP Dynamic Smart Array but is seems to be a graphic tool and must be run throgouth a web browser.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best Regards

Hi,

you can use "hpacucli" or "hpssacli" to check the status from the command line.

I've never actually myself had a server with b120i controller, but the release notes says that it should be supported by hpacucli too. You can get the tool from the SPP repo: http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/repo/spp/

Re: Raid managment in DL320e Gen8 v2

The dynamic raidcontrollers are managed with SSA just like any other smart array controller (same tools used). I'm not sure if they are monitored the same way as "real" controllers from ILO. I would check the ILO system status pages if you can see the details and set up monitoring via ILO 4.

Hope this helps!

Re: Raid managment in DL320e Gen8 v2

Thanks a lot for the answer,  do I need some driver to "speek" to the raid controller ?

Because when I use the cli no controller is detected

I ask this because I am not beeing able to detect which raid controller the server has

Thanks again

Re: Raid managment in DL320e Gen8 v2

Did you check ILO so far?

The OS needs drivers, of course. Check the hp drivers pages. I'm not sure if you can install your OS version with intelligent provisioniing (press F10) during POST.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Raid managment in DL320e Gen8 v2

I did not check the ILO because I am not at the server site  I olny have remote access and I am pretty sure that the ILO is not accesible.

Anyway I will try to find which controller the server has

Thanks a lot for you time

It is a B120i by default unless it has an option P... controller.

Hope this helps!

Are you sure you are really running RAID on the B120i? Is the hpvsa driver loaded? This driver does not ship with any Linux distribution and must be downloaded from HP as it is a closed source driver.

What does lsscsi -g show?
