Raid5 and defragmentation Proliant 2500

When you are running a Raid 5 configured disk-array, does the array-controller then handle the defragmentation, or is it advisable to run a third-party defragmentation application, like Diskeeper, to keep the disk-array defragmentet. Someone has once told me, that the raid-5-controller handles it, but is it true?

Re: Raid5 and defragmentation Proliant 2500

The RAID controller doesn't know about partitions, file systems or even files. So it cannot defragment.
