I ran smartStart and Support Software Release 4.50 on this server and after this process it prompted me to remove this cd and insert the cd for sco openserver but unfornately it failed to read the cd .Now i can't even reboot using smartstart.Advise

Download and make the system configuration program disks and the Compaq server diagnostic disk from these web addresses.

Run the configuration program and verify that the CD-ROM drive shows up with the correct SCSI ID in the system BIOS. Also check the boot device order. Make sure the CD-ROM is listed as a boot device. Next check the boot controller order. The SCSI controller the booting hard drive is connected to must be 1st. The OS must be set the SCO Openserver 5 so the hard drive geometry is correct for the OS. Save the new hardware configuration to CMOS.



If the BIOS settings are correct and the CD-ROM drive is working, you should be able to boot the system from the SmartStart or SCO install CD's. If you can not boot from the CD-ROM drive, run the Compaq server diagnostics and perfrom the CD-ROM drive read test. If the test fails, replace the CD-ROM drive.
