Rebuild issue in DL160 G5

Hi Guys,
Here i am using vmware on Dl160g5 with raid 1 (2 HDD).due to some problem in first hdd it was down after that server not up with Second HDD.now it showing raid degraded.

What kind of storage controller do you have in the server? Is it the 4 port embedded SATA and SATA HDD?

If you have an embedded SATA Controller and SATA HDD you need to replace the hard drive and get into the BIOS of the controller by rebooting the server and pressing Press

for adaptec Raid configuration Utility

Press for embedded SATA Setup

depending on the BIOS of the controller. Once there follow the following instructions:

â ¢ From the main menu of the array configuration utility, select Add/Delete Hotspare

there are no hot spare if one hdd having problem maens it automatically change to next one .but here its not happened probaly server gets restart and hangup for getting data in second one.

I was not asking if you had an spare hard drive. What I said is that you need to assign the new drive or the replaced drive as a hotspare, since the controller is SATA the hard drives need to be added as hotspares to rebuild. The smart array controllers are different, just to remove and replace
