Red Hat 8 & Proliant 2500

I am trying to install Red Hat 8 on my dual ppro 200 proliant 2500 and am getting the out of memory error. When I enter in the line linux mem=448 expert, it goes so far then gives me a panic kernal and then exits. Can Red Hat 8 be installed on my proliant 2500? I have upgraded the bios to the current versions.

Dual ppro 200
458752 meg memory
3 - 4.3 gig drives config as an 8 gig drive using 2HD scsi card.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreiciated. Thanks
Ron

Re: Red Hat 8 & Proliant 2500

Hello Ron,
Unfortunately RH 8.0 is not supported on PL2500. This goes as far as RH 6.1. You can always visit the PL2500 related page at the following link:

Re: Red Hat 8 & Proliant 2500

try it again with:

mem=exactmap mem=64K@0 mem=447M@1M

I've been attempting the same with RH9 and this got me to at least the completion of installation. Make sure that you instruct grub/lilo to pass those parameters as well.

Now if I can just figure out how to get SMP working correctly...
