Redhat EL 4 Update 4 support on DL385G2 AMD Optron 64 bit
HI All,
I am trying to install RHEL4-update4 (Kernel-2.6.9-5.EL) x86 on HP Prolaint DL385 G2 Server
which is having AMD64 optron processor .
while booting with RHEL4-update4 disk1 CD i am getting the the problem bellow .
after loading the kernel and initrd image in ram its not detecting the HP Smart Array P400 controler .
then i download the the HP Smart Array P400 driver from
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/27656.html
driver name "cpq_cciss-2.6.18-5.rhel4.i686.dd"
then i tried to with linux boot option
boot : linux dd
after insterting the driver disk its not detecting the correct driver disk
then i tried with the driver disk "cpq_cciss-2.6.18-5.rhel4.x86_64.dd "
again its not the correct driver disk .
But when i tried RHEL4-update5 (kernel-2.6.9-55.EL ) both x86 and 64 version its working fine
can any body help me to resolve the issue.
Thanks
Ganesh

Re: Redhat EL 4 Update 4 support on DL385G2 AMD Optron 64 bit
The driver downloaded from that link isn't the driver diskette. It's the after-install-driver.
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/27501.html
That's the driver diskette.
That being said, why not just use RHEL4U5? What's the particular reason for using U4?
Incidentally, if you're using the x86 install media, you can't use the x86_64 drivers, and vice-versa.

One long-haired git at your service...

Re: Redhat EL 4 Update 4 support on DL385G2 AMD Optron 64 bit
HI,
Downloaded the driver from the http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/27501.html
It's working fine for DL380G5 Intel Xeon processor same array controller.
But the same combination is not working with DL385G2 Amd Opetron.
Is there any specific issue on DL385G2 support on Rhel 4 update 4.
Thanks
Ganesh
