O.K. How to configure server with RAID controller falure protection? In attached image 3 different configurations, which best? OS can load from RAID vol in external enclosure?

Sergey:

Vijay may have logged off already.

Here is an explanation of the picture you are looking at.

The cableing for the internal drive cage on the controllers also has an external enclosure attached. (Such as a MSA30)

You can install a SA6404 controller which has two internal SCSI channels and also connect two external channels.

You can connect the internal drive cage in either a duplex or simplex configuration and then attach a MSA30 drive enclosure single or dual bus.

Thus, you have utilized all 4 channels of the controller.

Does this expalin it?
Enjoy!

Whoops! Did not finish.

The redundant controller sits idle until the primary controller fails. If that happens, you switch the SCSI cables to the secondary and you are up in no time.
Enjoy!

Re: Redundant controllers for internal drive cage on DL380G4

I`am read HP Smart Array Multipath Software User Guide and know now - automated, on-line SA controller replacement not suppored in my chosen configuration. IT-staff work and server shutdoun required (shutdoun&replace if not use hot-plug replace PCI card).

Tnx all.

I`am finding fault tolerance solution for corporate Lotus Domino/Notes system. If on-line automated HBA replacement not applicable, i need Domino Cluster as two Domino servers on different ProLiant chasis placed to different bildings (is disaster tolarance solution).
